Postpartum Physical Therapy
Pelvic therapy specific for women in the Tampa Bay area who have had a baby and want more than just a 6-week “you’re good to go” appointment.
You want to make sure that you’re healing well after birth, and we’d love to help you.
After baby arrives, postpartum pelvic floor therapy focuses on helping you to reconnect to your core, decrease any abdominal separation/diastasis recti, treat any feelings of heaviness in the pelvic region, help you decrease any pain with return to sex, eliminate the leaking of urine, help you recover optimally from your c-section, and if you have any birth-related injuries, we can help you maximize your recovery.
We’ve worked with moms who were told they have a prolapse after birth, those with diastasis recti that feels like it’s just not healing, women who are leaking with activity, those who want to return to running, F45, CrossFit, HYROX, and women who had a baby years ago but just didn’t know how to get rid of their lasting symptoms.
The symptoms you’re feeling are not “just what you need to deal with” because you had a baby. We’re here to help you.
We welcome children and babies at your appointments, and if virtual sessions are easier to manage, we will accommodate you. Your home program will always be tailored to fit into your day as is so that you don’t need to spend an extra hour at night doing additional work. We get it and know that you’re tired, mama!
Just because you had a baby does not mean you are resigned to a life of leaking, pain, or heaviness. Our pelvic therapists will help you get rid of pain, stay strong, and get you back to the activities you love after your baby arrives.

Is pelvic therapy postpartum right for you?
We know that deciding whether this is a fit for you is a large part of the process. Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about pelvic therapy. If questions remain, feel free to contact us!

You can start as soon as you feel ready. Some people come in at 2-3 weeks postpartum, others wait until their 6-week checkup. If you're dealing with significant pain, heaviness, or leaking right after birth, don't wait. We can start helping you even in those early weeks.
-
We would say yes! Your pelvic floor and core still went through 9 months of pregnancy, which puts stress on those muscles whether you delivered vaginally or via C-section. Plus, we can help with scar tissue management, core strength, and any abdominal separation you might be dealing with. C-section recovery is real recovery, and pelvic therapy helps.

It's not too late. Your pelvic floor can heal and get stronger at any point postpartum, whether you're 6 weeks out or 6 years out. If you're dealing with leaking, pain, heaviness, or just not feeling like yourself, pelvic therapy can still help.
-
No. Leaking is common, but it's not normal and you don't have to live with it. Pelvic floor therapy can help you stop leaking (or significantly reduce it) so you can sneeze, run, jump, and laugh without worrying about it. You don't have to accept this as your new reality.
-
Absolutely. Diastasis recti is one of the things we treat regularly. We'll assess the separation, help you strengthen your core safely, and teach you how to move and exercise in ways that support healing instead of making it worse.
-
Yes. Pain with sex after having a baby is common, but it shouldn't just be ignored or pushed through. We can help you figure out what's causing the pain (scar tissue, muscle tension, dryness, etc.) and treat it so sex feels good again, not painful or scary.
-
Pelvic therapy can absolutely help manage prolapse symptoms and in many cases reduce the heaviness or pressure you're feeling. We'll teach you exercises to strengthen your pelvic floor, strategies to reduce strain on your system, and ways to stay active without making things worse. Surgery isn't always necessary, and even if it is down the road, pelvic therapy will help you recover better.
-
Postpartum exercise classes are great for general fitness, but pelvic therapy is specific treatment for your body and your symptoms. We assess what's actually going on with your pelvic floor, core, and any pain or dysfunction you're experiencing, then create a treatment plan tailored to you. It's medical care, not just exercise.
-
Yes. We know childcare is hard to come by. Bring your baby if you need to. We have space for strollers, and if you need to feed or change a diaper during the session, that's completely fine.
