Pregnancy Pelvic Therapy
We help pregnant women in the Tampa Bay area thrive during pregnancy, prepare for birth effectively, and minimize risk for birth injury.
Pregnancy doesn’t have to come with joint pain, confusion, injuries, and less-than-specific advice.
…And we won’t tell you that your symptoms are “just a part of being pregnant.”
Pelvic floor therapy during your pregnancy can help you get relief from, and sometimes avoid, a lot of typical pregnancy-related symptoms such as: leaking, heaviness, excessive diastasis/abdominal separation, joint pain, and pelvic pain as well as keep you strong and active throughout your pregnancy with specific exercise guidelines to follow throughout your pregnancy, and birth preparation methods to decrease your risk for birth-related trauma.
Our approach is designed to look at the whole picture: what you care about, what demands you have at home and work, what you enjoy doing for recreational exercises and workouts, and how your body is changing and growing to accommodate your growing baby. By looking at the whole system, we’re able to give you a comprehensive plan that works just for you.
We welcome children and babies at your appointments, and if virtual sessions are easier to manage, we will accommodate you. Your home program will always be tailored to fit into your day as is so that you don’t need to spend an extra hour at night doing additional work. We tailor the number of sessions based on your initial assessment, but we typically see patients once per week.
Just because you're pregnant does not mean you have to live with pain, leaking, or discomfort. Our pelvic therapists will help you stay strong, move well, and feel your best throughout every stage of pregnancy.

Is pelvic therapy during pregnancy right for you?
We know that deciding whether this is a fit for you is a large part of the process. Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about pelvic therapy. If questions remain, feel free to contact us!
-
Yes. Pelvic therapy is safe throughout all stages of pregnancy. Our therapists are trained specifically in prenatal care and will always work within what is appropriate for where you are in your pregnancy. If anything needs to be modified, we will let you know.
-
Whenever you need it. Some people start in the first trimester because they're already dealing with pain or leaking. Others come in during the second or third trimester to prepare for birth or address symptoms that pop up as pregnancy progresses. There's no "perfect" time. It just depends on what you're experiencing and what you want help with. If you have questions, just reach out to us. We’re happy to answer.

We treat a wide range of pregnancy-related symptoms including pelvic girdle pain, round ligament pain, low back pain, hip pain, leaking, constipation, pelvic pressure, and tailbone pain. If you are not sure whether what you are experiencing is something we can help with, reach out and we will let you know.
-
Yes. Even if you're not dealing with symptoms right now, pelvic therapy can help you stay strong and active throughout your pregnancy, teach you how to push effectively during labor, and prepare your body for postpartum recovery. Think of it as getting ahead of issues before they start.
-
We can't guarantee you won't tear (a lot of factors are outside anyone's control), but pelvic therapy can teach you perineal massage techniques, breathing strategies, and positioning that may reduce your risk. We'll also help you understand how your pelvic floor works during labor so you can push more effectively.
-
Absolutely. Diastasis recti is one of the things we treat regularly. We'll assess the separation, help you strengthen your core safely, and teach you how to move and exercise in ways that support healing instead of making it worse.
-
Yes. Pain with sex after having a baby is common, but it shouldn't just be ignored or pushed through. We can help you figure out what's causing the pain (scar tissue, muscle tension, dryness, etc.) and treat it so sex feels good again, not painful or scary.
-
Yes. We know childcare is hard to come by. Bring your baby if you need to. We have space for strollers, and if you need to feed or change a diaper during the session, that's completely fine.
-
In most cases, no. Many patients come to us directly without a referral from their OB or midwife. We do recommend looping in your provider so everyone is on the same page, but you do not have to wait for a referral to get started.
